When we are open to submissions, we will include detailed instructions about how to submit your work,
and we will respond to queries within four weeks.
We accept queries for any genre and audience of books except horror.

Phoenix Media & Books is a traditional, independent publisher. We value authentic stories inspired by the spectrum of unique lived experiences that can be relatable for readers of any background.

If we met you at an event or have requested material from you, please submit your manuscript sample within three months at {submissions at phoenixmediaandbooks dot com} with the word QUERY in the subject line. As a reminder, we are interested in:

​Please keep in mind, authentic voices are the most important element to any book we publish. We want to know why your project is significant to you, where you see it within the publishing market, and what your plan is to share your book with the world. Please prepare the following for each submission:

One page synopsis and first three chapters for novel length works

Full manuscript for picture books

Your plan for marketing and engaging with your audience both prior to and after publication.
